Paiheretanga is a 6 week intensive, home-based parent mentoring support service.

It’s specifically for families and whānau who are involved with Oranga Tamariki.

The type of support the service provides varies according to the needs of the whānau to ensure the best outcomes for their tamariki. Paiheretanga can also assist in meeting more immediate safety concerns, such as when tamariki are at risk of being removed from the care of their parents, where clear risks/concerns have been substantiated by OT and a safety plan is in place, or the risks are not yet clear as the whānau are still under investigation.

The Paiheretanga service can provide up to 40 hours wrap-around support to whānau:

positive parenting / effective disciplining
home management strategies
education about child development
life skills
advocacy
access to community resources
eyes on tamariki as part of an OT safety plan

Availability and referrals

This service is available Auckland wide. Referrals must come from Oranga Tamariki.
