Important Covid-19 Update

Bumps to Babies is following the Ministry of Health Covid-19 Protection Framework for the appropriate Traffic Light Levels.

Currently, we are offering our courses face to face and via zoom.

Face to face

  • Classes may take place face-to-face while observing all relevant Ministry of Health guidelines which may include capped class numbers, social distancing, hygiene measures, and wearing masks in classes.
  • We will not be asking for vaccine passes for participants.
  • If you are unwell or required to isolate you will not be able to attend face to face classes. We will have other options to catch up missed information.
  • There may be some changes to scheduled dates, times, or venues. Classes may need to change to zoom delivery at short notice. We will let you know of any changes as soon as possible.

Zoom classes

  • Classes that take place using a zoom meeting means you can participate from the comfort of your own home.  You can still interact with the childbirth educator and other participants.
  • You will need a device such as a PC, or smartphone, and an internet connection.  Zoom is free to use.
  • We will send you the zoom meeting invite and simple instructions on how to use it.

If you have any questions or would like to register for one of our classes, you can do this by emailing [email protected] or phoning 0508 247 8433.

Education & support

Bumps to Babies is Barnardos' dedicated pregnancy and antenatal education and support programme in the MidCentral region.

It provides expectant mums and partners (and support people) all the information they need to prepare for the arrival of their first child. It also helps new parents build support networks of people in similar situations to their own.

Classes are run in evenings and on weekends by trained and qualified educators. Attendees are given a wealth of information and resources, backed up by support from their educator and peers. Post-birth, we now offer Babies and Beyond which is 6 hours of FREE postnatal education. Here, parents can get back in touch with their antenatal classmates and develop a support network for them and their babies whilst also learning about information important to new parents such as settling, feeding, brain development, baby massage and much more.

Bumps to Babies is fully funded by MidCentral District Health Board (DHB) and available to parents from all situations and walks of life.
