Leave a gift in your will

Every day, with the help of our supporters, Barnardos makes a positive, long-lasting difference to children’s lives. You can keep making a difference for future generations of New Zealand children by leaving a gift to Barnardos in your Will.

Your gift will give families the support they need to make real changes. Your gift will help break the cycle of poverty and violence that dims the potential of too many New Zealand children.

“Often people feel helpless about the size of the problem. They want to do something and need to find some way to help. What they can do is support an organisation that makes a difference. That’s why I have included Barnardos in my Will—to help them in their work of giving such children a chance in life.”

Rena Dalley, loyal Barnardos supporter

How to make a gift

Family and whānau are hugely important to Barnardos, so we know that when you make your Will your first priority will be to provide for your loved ones. A gift in your Will, of any amount, is welcome and can be simply stated, either in your Will or in a codicil (addition). When making or revising a Will you should consult your legal advisor to ensure it completely represents your wishes.

The following wording is suggested for leaving a gift in your Will (bequest) to Barnardos New Zealand:

“I give to Barnardos New Zealand, (% of estate, the residue of my estate, or sum of money, or write description of property or assets) for general purposes, for which the receipt of an authorised officer of the organisation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees”

If you choose to leave a gift in your Will then we would love to hear from you so that we can thank you and recognise you as a special member of the Dr Thomas Barnardo Society.
